Revitalization Assistance & Support

As MotorCities has chosen Revitalization as one of its three main areas of focus, several programs have been developed to assist property owners, communities, and MotorCities Stewardship Communities to not only preserve their historic auto heritage resources but to ensure that these auto heritage buildings, complexes, and neighborhoods become revitalization engines in their communities.

To support this Revitalization effort, MotorCities has devoted staff to support this initiative. A staff person in partnership with the MotorCities Stewardship Communities is responsible for implementing the MotorCities Revitalization strategy with the program manager and other staff working with various groups and organizations on this effort.

What Can We Do For You?

MotorCities Technical Assistance can help your revitalization project by: 1) providing contacts with local, state-wide, and national preservation organizations, 2) giving referrals to preservation professionals in your community, 3) giving technical assistance in preparing National Register nominations, 4) supporting the preparation of grant applications, 5) providing guidance in fundraising and preservation strategies, 6) giving modest levels of funding through the MotorCities Grant programs, 7) generating media exposure through including information on efforts in The Drive, on the website, and when other media options present themselves, 8) connecting interested people with the right projects, 9) developing partnerships with civic and governmental leaders to ensure our auto heritage receives the support it needs.
